July 11, 2006 - Minneapolis Millers 14AA host Mound - Westonka 14AA White Hawks
AF-Kids - Saints - MBL take the show to Neimand - Ft. Snelling Field in South Minneapolis. This was a rematch from the game played in Westonka on May 15th when the Millers took home the win. Tonight would have a different outcome as the White Hawks would even the score.
Mound - Westonka’s Tyler Storlie threw a complete game in a 10 – 4 triumph over Minneapolis Millers (8-8-1) in the first Spotlight game under the lights.
Behind Storlie’s successful efforts on the rubber, his teammates backed him up by only allowing four runs while exploding for six runs of their own in the third inning on their way to the victory.
The White Hawks (10 – 6) led off with a BJ Pierce walk who eventually scored on a Colin Mayer single to take the early lead. The Millers answered back in the second inning with two runs but lost the lead for good when the White Hawks teed off in the third inning driving in six runs.
In the sixth inning the Millers threatened a comeback by getting four consecutive batters on base during the inning but were cut short after only scoring two of those runners. The Millers stranded a total of nine batters during the contest but were only out-hit 13 – 12.

Storlie not only threw a complete game but he batted 2 for 4 including a double with three runs scored. Mound’s Brandon Hebig had the best game at the plate going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI. The Miller’s Tony Dahl was 1 for 1 from the plate with a double and two RBIs on the evening.
The players and fans were first treated to have 11 year old Olivia Manion sing the National Anthem.
Saints public address announcer Rusty Kath did the play by play while an associate of Sister Roz, the resident massage therapist, provided relaxing massages to fans.
Between innings, the Saints in-stadium show took over with all of the classics including promotions such as “Smoothie Strike” and “Shoot-out”. Mascot Mudonna made appearances and was available for pictures. Rusty and organist Andy Crowley kept the fans involved. Instead of the 7th inning stretch, we had the “4th Inning Stretch” Peanut Toss.
The between-innings tire race added fun!
